Good afternoon.
Having been in contact with you today regarding JobMoves, the potential new social housing employment mobility pilot scheme, I am pleased to send you some further information as follows (as well as attached pdfs of the JobMoves literature and marketing materials).
As a lead for employability in your area, I am hoping that you can assist me in completing my list of key stakeholder contacts by providing me with some lead contact names, telephone numbers and emails of employment related organisations in the region in order that I may disseminate this message further and make contact with them directly to help promote the JobMoves scheme.
WHAT IS JOBMOVES?
Jobmoves is an exciting new government funded initiative helping social tenants in the North through delivery of a 12 month pilot designed to remove the obstacles that social tenants might face in taking up the best job available to them.
Funded by CLG, the scheme provides an advice and support service which liaises between social tenants, potential landlords and mutual exchange schemes in the North in order to try and secure a housing move for employment related reasons. Social tenants enduring an excessive commute and those with a job offer or apprenticeship placement which is too far to travel from home, can access the JobMoves service for advice on their rehousing options and advocacy and assistance in seeking a new home closer to work.
JobMoves will not replicate existing advice services, and will be reliant on the expert knowledge and experience of statutory Housing Options, Housing Solutions, and Lettings Teams in sharing their knowledge on housing availability, turnover and other local factors which will help the social tenant needing to move to recognise their potential ability to make that move within a reasonable period, and therefore consider their housing options based on an informed understanding of the housing landscape.
EMPLOYMENT SECTOR – WE NEED YOU!
The employment sector is invaluable in the success of this scheme. We recognise that the employment sector has contact with many social tenants on a daily basis, some of whom may be interested in moving home for a job offer, or to be nearer to their place of work.
WHAT NEXT?
Get involved! We would like to ask that employment organisations actively engage with the Jobmoves scheme by disseminating our stakeholder information packs to colleagues, and ensuring that they are aware of the availability of the scheme to actively promote the JobMoves pilot to social tenants needing to move home due to difficulties getting to their place of work or apprenticeship.
Spread the word! We would also like to ask that employment organisations display our marketing materials in public outlets (advice centres, customer contact points etc.) to help spread the word around the North. We have posters and social tenant leaflets which can be featured in public outlets to ensure that the service is promoted to social tenants as widely as possible.
We would also be grateful if you could feature information on the JobMoves pilot in any staff e-bulletins or similar to ensure that staff are aware of the scheme, as well as feature in service user newsletters or any other communications with the public to raise public awareness, and include a link to JobMoves on your organsiation’s website. We have marketing material on disk that will enable you to do this with ease (web adverts, featured text and contact information etc.)
QUESTIONS?
Please contact JobMoves to request marketing materials for your organisation, to provide contact details for any colleagues or partner organisations, or for further information on the scheme itself and how it can benefit social tenants in the North.
